One Minute Reader (developed by Read Naturally) provides a systematic program to build reader's fluency (speed and accuracy). Students are timed for one-minute as they read short, interesting passages. "Cold reads" are scores (correct words per minute) obtained on a first-reading of the passage. After listening to a CD which provides an oral reading of the passage (like an audio-book), and practicing the passage independently, the student will be timed again to obtain a "hot read" score. The goals are to increase the number of words read correctly in one minute, to decrease the number of miscues or errors, and to improve comprehension as measured by four multiple choice questions. Student progress is steady and remarkable.
